Sustain Your Love with Sustainable Chocolates

Valentine's Day is Thursday, so you best scoop up some chocolate for your loved ones. Every day is Valentine's Day in our home as we gobble chocolate daily, but for this special occasion, why not go all out on the good stuff? A dear reader sent me a tip on a couple of companies that make earth friendly chocolate, so it's doubly delicious.

The first is Vosges Chocolate. Their chocolate is organic, and as we know, organic farming practices help save the environment from pesticides. All of their boxes are made from 100% recycled paperboard (and they're purple- my favorite color!) They ship their chocolates with air filled bags as opposed to those pesky, non-biodegradable styrofoam peanuts, and they produce their chocolate with 100% renewable energy.

Or head to Chocolatebar.com, where their motto is: "Savor Chocolate. Save our planet." (My two favorite hobbies). They donate 10% of their net profits to support endangered species, habitat and humanity. Choose from their organic selection and keep animals safe from ingesting harmful toxins used in conventional farming.

Many more companies make eco-savvy chocolate. Look for "organic" and "fair trade" varieties to preserve our planet. Remember to share!
