The time is nigh to start reading those holiday themed books! Brand new to the scene this year, and destined to be a classic, is the delightful 'Twas the Mouse Who Saved Christmas from MarbleSpark. Your kiddos will absolutely adore this book -- especially because the story is personalized and revolves around their name!
A new spin on the Christmas poem 'Twas The Night Before Christmas, this refreshing tale takes place on the night before Christmas when a mischievous mouse named Pipp Squeak tries to 'borrow' a cookie. Adventure ensues when during the process, Pipp accidentally rips a name off of Santa's list! You guessed it... the name that gets torn off belongs to your kiddo!
You should have seen the look on Miss O's face at the part of the story when her name was suddenly detached from Santa's sacred list. She immediately straightened up and got much more invested in the book, wondering how Pipp was going to remedy the situation. I don't want to give away the story, so let's just say it has a very sweet and happy ending.
I know books aren't by their nature eco-friendly, but I love the fact that MarbleSpark is a small company started by a Midwestern dad named Phil Haussler.
Aside from writing, illustrating and publishing great books for kids with the MarbleSpark team (in a day and age where Apps seem to sadly take precedent), MarbleSpark is also at the helm of Project OpenBook wherein they are raising $2,500 to free a young girl in Nepal from indentured service and pay for her education through secondary school. Learn more about how you and your kids can contribute your art and creativity to Project Openbook to help free young girls who have been "sold into a hopeless existence."
And enjoy reading 'Twas The Mouse Who Saved Christmas. It is a book you'll love reading with your kids time and again during many holiday seasons to come.
