The Food Babe Investigates How Food Companies Exploit Americans With Ingredients Banned In Other Countries
In my line of work, I walk a fine line. There are people I meet who are eager to learn more about how to improve their health and the welfare of the planet, and there are people who would rather remain ignorant because it's all "too overwhelming," and "ignorance is bliss."
Well, it's becoming more and more difficult to keep my mouth shut, as every day I gain deeper insight into the atrocities of what is in our food supply in America. I already wrote about 13 Banned Foods That Are Still Allowed in the U.S., and tonight I came across The Food Babe's article on how Americans are literally being poisoned by the food we eat.
It can be easy to turn a blind eye to this type of news when you're confident that you eat a healthy diet and avoid fast food... but even seemingly benign foods like Ritz crackers and Rice Krispies (and I'm guessing that Rice Krispie treats are a favorite among your kids, and I have even eaten about a million of them in my lifetime), are actually filled with toxic chemicals that literally poison consumers.
And to add insult to injury, the companies listed in the image above (and countless more), have CHANGED THE INGREDIENTS in their products in the U.K. and other nations, TO LEAVE OUT THE TOXINS. But in the good old USA, we still get to eat all of the horrible, cancer-causing additives. If these products can be made in a purer form, why are we not privy to them too, here in America?
I urge you to read The Food Babe's full investigation here.
One of the most startling statistics in it is that 41% of Americans are projected to get cancer at some point in their lifetime.
Is it easier to bury your head in the sand? Yes. But as parents, it is our DUTY TO OUR CHILDREN to wake up and demand that the government stops allowing us to be poisoned via the very food we eat and feed our families.
A very difficult motto we strive to live by in our house is: "If man made it, don't eat it." Of course, this hasn't been 100% possible for us to date, but at the very least, read all of the ingredient labels on your packaged foods, make sure packaged foods are non-GMO certified, and if there's an ingredient you've never heard of, by all means, put it back on the shelf.
Thank you, Food Babe.
